    In a report dated 30 July 2024, The Times newspaper reported that newly installed Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has told UEFA officials that he backs a “£310 million bailout” for the currently derelict Casement Park GAA stadium in Andersonstown, to support the hosting of Euro 2028 matches in Northern Ireland. It is unclear from the media reports exactly how much money might be provided by the British government.   • Revealed: document that may sink Maze stadium

    An interesting article in the Belfast Telegraph from 2008 revelealing the hidden costs that stopped the development of the Maze Stadium Project. The controversial Maze stadium project is now looking doomed — after a confidential report revealed it would cost more than three times the original estimate. The Stormont memorandum — which was leaked to the Belfast Telegraph — calculates that the cost of the arena would top £379m over the next seven years.
